Calling all women!
We have been notified from the breast screening department that some of our eligible ladies have still not attended, following their breast screening invite.
We have some comments from Dr Unwin here at the surgery “It is really important that our patients still attend for their breast screening appointment even in the present circumstances. Routine screening plays an important role. The NHS offers screening to save lives from breast cancer. Screening does this by finding breast cancers at an early stage, when they’re too small to see or feel. Ladies who have attended during the pandemic report the clinics felt very organised and covid safe. If you have not already done so we urge you to make your appointment.”
Scientific evidence shows that regular breast screening, between the ages of 50 and 70 years, reduces the death rate from breast cancer. The NHS Breast Screening Programme saves an estimated 1400 lives each year in England; therefore we must stress the importance of booking and attending your appointment. This could be your mum, grandmother, auntie or your friend. If so, it is important that they know that there has been a significant change in the way you book your breast screening examination.
If you are between the ages of 50 – 70 please visit the breast screening website or ring 01942 774752.
