If you have a housebound family member awaiting a covid booster please see the below update and where possible inform them we are doing everything we can to plan to visit them as soon as it is possible to do so:
Along with other GP practices across the country, we have been prioritising care home booster doses due to the national requirements that all care home booster doses have been completed by 1 November. Now that we have completed this piece of work we can move on the home visits.
The process for these home visits is more complicated than previous COVID vaccine home visits due to the fact that a different vaccine must be used which has different requirements for safe transportation and a 15 minute observation of each patient after vaccination. It is important that these visits are planned carefully to ensure the vaccine is not damaged during transport which would reduce how effective it is and to make sure patients are safely treated.
Whilst we understand that patients are keen to receive their booster dose as soon as possible it is also important that this is done safely. We ask that patients bear with us whilst we arrange these visits with a new vaccine and ensure that we can do this as safely as possible.
If you are able to attend one of our vaccination clinics we would recommend that you book an appointment rather than waiting for a home visit.
