Maternity services within the practice are mainly
undertaken by a team of midwives, based at Wigan hospital.
The midwives provide full
antenatal cover with weekly clinics at the surgery.
In-patient maternity care
is usually provided at Wigan Infirmary.
Post natal care is
provided at home by the same team of midwives who looked after you during
your pregnancy, thus ensuring good continuity of care throughout the
ante-natal and post-natal period.
If you need advice before
trying for pregnancy, please make an appointment to discuss this with one
of the doctors. They may arrange some blood tests and give advice on what
to do and what to avoid
If you discover you are
pregnant, please arrange to see one of the doctors, who will arrange for
you to see the midwives, within a few weeks, for an explanation of the way
maternity services will affect you and to arrange some blood tests and a
scan.
Post natal checks are
offered at the surgery for you and your baby at 6 weeks. |
